Choosing a dog trainer is a big decision. You want someone who understands your dog, listens to your concerns, and gives you practical tools you can actually use at home and in everyday life.
The families below have trusted Side by Side Dog Training with puppies, adult dogs, rescue dogs, fearful dogs, anxious dogs, and dogs struggling with challenging behaviors.
Every dog is different, but the goal is the same: helping dogs and their people communicate better, build confidence, and enjoy life together.

"I highly recommend Side By Side Training! Not only is Sherry absolutely expert with fearful dogs (which we have), she is patient, responsive and encouraging with us (the truly difficult ones to train 🙂) as well. Her heart for dogs truly shines through in all she does."

"Sherry is professional and empathetic with our dog. She was friendly and communicated well before during and after the training. We got our dog back but better. Sherri truly understands what she is doing and you can feel safe with your dog being in her care. We are grateful we got to meet her and for the help she provided. Would recommend her for anyone I know with a dog."

"Rarely do you meet someone that is so in tune with dogs. Sherry met my foster dog and understood him from the beginning. Her intuition is spot on. She’s kind and has remarkable results. Can recommend Sherry without hesitation. That foster dog is living his best life paddle boarding!"

“We took our furry son to Sherry because of his behavior and anxiety. He came back to us as a completely different dog. The change in him has been absolutely amazing, like night and day. I promise Sherry is worth every dime if you want/need your baby trained. Sherry literally saved our boys life. Thank you"
Audra M.
"Sherry has been validated as one awesome trainer! She has taken several semi feral dogs from our facility and turned them into amazing forever pets. She has even rescued dogs off of our deadlines and did more with them in a few weeks than we were able to do in months. I would highly recommend giving her a try!"

“Five stars is not enough. Sherry has been a life saver for us. I thought i was going to have to surrender my dog because she was so reactive and aggressive to other animals. Sherry came in and worked with us and in just a few sessions our dog could walk next to another dog. It's still a work in progress but I can hardly believe she's the same dog. Sherry also taught me where I was going wrong and now I have confidence working with my dog and she respects me and listens to me and I can actually feel safe taking her out for a walk. I cant recommend Sherry highly enough.”
Helping Dogs Build Confidence
Some of the dogs who need the most help aren't the dogs who simply need better manners. They're the dogs who are afraid, overwhelmed, reactive, or unsure of the world around them.
Sherry's years of rescue experience have given her a particular understanding of these dogs and the patience required to help them move forward.
Our foster boy, Ace, just completed a two week board and train with Sherry! Sherry was excellent about keeping us updated with photos and videos. It was so great to see how receptive Ace was to training and watching him build confidence and learn new skills. Ace was very dog reactive when he came to us after being in boarding for 6 months. After Sherry’s training our big guy Ace returned so well mannered. Sherry taught us all the skills we would need to continue helping Ace with training at home. Overall it was a great experience for us and Ace! I would highly recommend Sherry to anyone. She’s passionate about the dogs in her care and that gave us great peace of mind while Ace was away.

Better Manners. Better Everyday Life.
Training isn't only about correcting problems. It's also about teaching dogs how to succeed in the everyday situations families experience all the time.
We left our 7.5 month old Corgi, Queso, with Sherry for 3 weeks. While he wasn’t some super crazed devil dog who needed a ton of work, he had plenty of undesirable behaviors that we wanted to curb (grabbing wash cloths/towels off counters, biting our feet and herding us nonstop, barking at random strangers, not ever having an “off switch” when other dogs were around, eating other dog’s poop while on walks), and we also wanted him just in general better trained as we plan to travel a bunch with him, and wanted to make sure that he was good to take in public. While he was with Sherry, she provided us super frequent pictures, videos, and stories of how queso was doing, what he was learning, outings she was taking him on, and just providing us with the relief that he was in good hands. After the 3 weeks was up, Sherry did an in home session with us to ensure we understood our role in keeping him well behaved, going over the things she taught him to demonstrate, and has continued to follow up with us to ensure the training is sticking. Seriously cannot recommended sherry / Side by side enough; your dog will be in great hands, and you’ll have a very well trained, well behaved pup at the end. She knows what she is doing, is super communicative, friendly and will make sure you’re happy with what she’s done! Easy 5 stars, worth every penny.

Training That Carries Home
Board & Train can give a dog an intensive period of focused training, but lasting progress doesn't happen simply because a dog spends time with a trainer.
The transition back home matters.
That's why Side by Side combines Board & Train programs with private sessions designed to help owners understand how to continue the training in everyday life.

Stories That Stay With Us
We introduced our new pitty puppy to our very alpha female pit and it was touch and go...without Sherry's help, I don't know what we would have done. Today, 8 months later, our dogs play endlessly and are best friends. Thanks, Sherry!
